EMF Testing

In 2011, the World Health Organisation (WHO) has classified radiofrequency (RF) electromagnetic fields (EMF) as possibly carcinogenic to humans (Group 2B), based on an increased risk for glioma, a malignant type of brain cancer, associated with wireless phone use (WHO 2011).

What is EMF?

The electromagnetic field (EMF) is an invisible force that comes from electricity and magnetism.

magnetic field (MF) is present when an appliance is in use, the electrical current produces MF. The magnetic field is measured in milligauss (mG). Typical household appliances that can generate high MFs are the electrical box, oven, fridge, power packs, pumps, chargers, hairdryer, and others.

In telecommunications, these wavelengths carry loads of information hence the higher frequencies are used. The radiofrequency (RF) can range from 100 kilohertz (kHz) to 300 gigahertz (GHz). Radiofrequency is measured in microwatt per square meter (µW/m2). Some examples of household items that generate high RFs are smart meters, 5G, WIFI routers, mobile phones, cordless phones, and any other wireless devices.

Health concerns associated to EMF:

ʉۢ Childhood leukaemia
• Miscarriage
• Breast cancer
• Insomnia, sleep disturbances
• Brain tumours
• Electrical hypersensitivity
• Tinnitus
• Infertility
• DNA damage
• Heart palpitations
• Chronic fatigue
• Learning and memory deficits

Did you know?

In 2002, the World Health Organisation (WHO) has classified extremely low frequency electric and magnetic fields (ELF-EMFs) as possibly carcinogenic to humans.

Case study: on 28 February 2013, Dr Alexander McDonald was awarded compensation for injury inflicted as a result of exposure to electromagnetic fields at his workplace at the CSIRO. Read more

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

The Electromagnetic Field (EMF) Audit is a complex procedure that requires professional grade EMF meters and in-depth understanding of electrical principles.

Steps to an EMF Testing

  • Electromagnetic 5G Radiation

    1. Exposure History

The first step is to record the history of exposure to EMF, research the area of concern and obtain a floor plan of the property.

  • EMF 5G Radiation

    2. Home Inspection

We will conduct comprehensive EMF screening with state of the art EMF meters designed for building biologists. We will screen 4 types of EMFs indoor and outdoor. Toolkit:

    A. Professional RF meters

    B. Professional MF meter

    C. DE meter

    D. Omni & Linear directional antennas

  • Electromagnetic EMF Radiation

    3. EMF Risk Mitigation

We will implement and provide recommendations for mitigating the EMF exposure as practicable as possible specific to the findings. Hierarchy of control from most effective to the least:

    A.Eliminate hazards or risks

    B. Reduce the risk - substitution, isolation, engineering

    C. Administrative controls

    D. Shielding plan - if required

  • 4. EMF Comprehensive Report

An in-depth report including site assessment results and level of severity of all EMF readings and the summary of EMF mitigation plans.
